OUR PHILOSOPHY

With all the information that is circulating these days, it can feel overwhelming knowing what to do and what to take.

Our approach towards longevity and health is what Chinese medicine calls, Yangsheng, or broken down, yang 养 (nourish), and sheng 生 (life); to nourish life.

“The aim of yangsheng is not just physical health. It aspires to harmony, the seamless integration of mind and body, physical and mental balance, serenity, detachment from excessive emotions, health and fitness into old age, wisdom, and ultimately an egoless identification with the dao (everything that is)”.
-LIVE WELL LIVE LONG; P. DEADMAN

When we think about health, what comes to mind?

Is it living pain free? Living a healthy and happy life? Everyone is going to answer this question differently depending on their circumstances and own current cultivation practices.

Our intention at Sustained Roots is to guide each individual in the direction that works the best for them. Healing is going to feel different for everyone, so our hope is that we can assist individuals on their journey and collaborate with other practitioners to provide the most comprehensive care for each person.

Much of what we do is rooted in foundational food recommendations, Chinese herbal medicine, Nei Gong practice and exercise.

Heal your autoimmune disease with traditional Chinese medicine.

WHAT IS CHINESE HERBOLOGY?

Chinese medicine is becoming more popular in the West, where many are looking for alternative ways to modulate their health in a more organic and sustainable way. Chinese herbology uses plants and/or minerals to promote a healing response within the body. All of the plants have different actions and indications, and even further, different parts of the plants can be used for different ailments as well.

At Sustained Roots Wellness we use only ethically sourced, organic, sustainable, or wild harvested herbs for our formulations. There is always careful consideration on where the herbs are grown and cultivated not only to protect the potency of the herbs but also the degradation of soil health.

Chinese herbal medicine utilizes various parts of plants-including roots, rhizomes, flowers, barks, seeds, and in some instances, minerals or shells. Since herbal medicine is becoming more popular some herbs are being over harvested creating instability issues with regards to biodiversity. At Sustained Roots, we never use herbs that could lead to plants becoming extinct. We try as best as we can to use a regenerative model in our practice of herbal medicine.

When using herbal medicine it is best to work with a licensed practitioner who can guide your healing in the most appropriate way.
